Cluny Missionary

As sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny our internationality and diversity gives a new vitality to the life of the congregation and calls us to go further and beyond our securities in to the unknown. This dynamism of diverse languages cultures and mission experiences strengthens our unity and sense of belonging to the Cluny family. It calls us to live more authentically our missionary charism. Anne Marie Javouhey shows us the way. Being a person of deeply intuitive and contemplative she discerned the new realities and needs of her time. She believed in her dream of coloured children and went beyond boundaries to bring about the kingdom of God.
Our missionary spirituality grounds us in a communal, contemplative discernment that searches to know the will of God. This quality of our consecrated life lived fully, makes known today the vision of Anne Marie and the call of God to go to the ends of the earth to preach the Good news.

The mission entrusted to the sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny responds to Jesus’ call to leave behind everything and follow Him. As we participate in His mission of liberation, especially of the poor, the least and the lost; we do not settle down anywhere. With Anne Marie we rejoice to say: “I am happy to be wherever there is suffering to be alleviated”. (Letter 63)
Our missionary spirit sends us anywhere there is good to be done. Going to the peripheries, crossing boundaries of countries and continents is a joy for a Cluny sister. We believe that our mission includes the whole of God’s creation. Therefore sending sisters to missions’ ad extra is our delight. We wish to remain like the bird on the branch ready to fly at the first call to set out to any part of the world. Nothing stops a Cluny sister from taking initiative to respond, to reach out and heal our wounded world.
